The Bridge suite (Dubai), The Palm

Perks: You may have only three bedrooms at the Atlantis's new sister hotel in the UAE but, never fear, there are three bathrooms, too, and four staff (a butler, a chef and a sous-chef and a washer-up) to show you around. You eat at an 18-seat, gold-leaf-coated table in a separate dining room, move to the lounge for cigars, then perhaps to the library, which, as well as the odd book, contains a throbbing electronic entertainment centre. A private elevator ascends to your palatial quarters and takes you down to an aquarium swirling with rays, dolphins and sharks.

Nightly rate: US$35,000 (£25,000)

Who’s stayed there? Follow in the footsteps of the Beckhams, reportedly the first guests to spend the night in the suite.

Feb 29 2008 Death Star Hotel Being Built, World Is Doomed

This structure is being built in Baku, Azerbaijan (an ex-Soviet country between Russian and Iran). Now I'm a firm believer in honesty being the best policy, so why they're trying to construct this under the guise that it's to be the "Full Moon" Hotel is a mystery to me. Just come out and say it already, Azerbaijan. This is not a 521-foot-tall hotel with 382 rooms on over 35 floors. This is the end of life on earth as we know it. That thing is going to blow up the damn planet. I, for one, am scared.

UPDATE: False alarm -- just saw the rest of the pictures. Nothing to worry about. Turns out the damn thing is flat. No way is it large enough to house a superlaser that could destroy the planet. However it is large enough to expect a reasonably sized mini-bar in each room.

Two more from different angles after the jump.

Most expensive hotel in Europe almost ready for its first paying guests

Recession? Not for everyone apparently. Russian Billionaire Telman Ismailov just spent $1.4 Billion of his own money building the most expensive hotel in Europe. The Mardan Palace hotel is located in Antalya, on the Turkish Riviera. The building was inspired by the Ottoman empire and the famous Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul.

The hotel has 560 rooms, 2 of which are "royal suites" which can be yours for just over $18,000 a night. That does get you your own private "golden" swimming pool so its totally worth it.

Regular rooms start at a much more reasonable $300 a night. Suites are equipped with remote controlled toilets, flat panel TV's with a multimedia system, Hermès toiletries and access to a 24 hour butler service.

The hotel is scheduled to open its doors in June. When guests are not enjoying the amenities in their rooms, they can visit the spa (which covers 2 acres), the vitamin or Champagne bar, or a golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.
